A two-vehicle traffic collision late Thursday night at a busy Murrieta intersection left at least one person injured and temporarily shut down part of the roadway, authorities said.
The crash was reported around 11:04 p.m. near the intersection of Winchester Rd Thompson Road, according to dispatch information from Murrieta Fire & Rescue. Emergency crews arrived to find two heavily damaged vehicles in the roadway.
Officials said both patients initially declined medical transport against medical advice. However, one individual from a white vehicle later chose to go to a hospital accompanied by his son.
Photos from the scene show significant front-end damage to at least one sedan, with emergency personnel and tow trucks working under traffic signals at the intersection.
The incident was handled as a law enforcement call involving the Murrieta Police Department, according to information shared at the scene.
Tow trucks removed both vehicles, and officials estimated the roadway would reopen within about 30 minutes of clearance operations beginning.
