A residential structure fire in Hemet on Thursday afternoon, March 6, displaced seven residents, including two children, officials said.

Cal Fire was dispatched at 4:10 p.m. to the 43300 block of Hemet for a reported residential structure fire. The incident commander confirmed a working fire at the rear of the property, where a 50-by-50-foot outbuilding was fully involved and flames had spread into surrounding vegetation.

Additional resources were requested from Hemet City Fire, Soboba Fire and Winchester. Southern California Edison was also called to the scene because of downed power lines. Firefighters requested breathing support as crews worked to contain the blaze.

The fire was contained, and crews were expected to remain at the scene for about three hours.

No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross was requested to assist five adults and two children who were displaced by the fire.
