What Happens Next

California will continue counting vote-by-mail, provisional and late-arriving ballots through the coming days. Most races are not expected to be certified until later this month, and some close contests could shift as additional ballots are processed. Current leaders in the statewide races for governor, congressional seats, legislative offices and county offices remain unofficial.
