The Riverside County Board of Supervisors awarded a contract to install trash capture devices in three watersheds within the county, including the Santa Margarita Watershed.
A 5-0 vote June 23 authorized a $480,950 contract with United Storm Water, Inc., for the work. Full trash capture devices will be installed in identified significant trash-generating areas of the Santa Margarita, Santa Ana, and Whitewater watersheds. A total of 249 connector pipe screens will be installed with 34 of those in the Santa Margarita Watershed, along with 138 in the Santa Ana Watershed and 77 in the Whitewater Watershed. The full trash capture devices will consist of a metal screen assembly installed inside a catch basin in front of the entrance to a connector pipe.
