MWD approves replacement of San Diego Canal radial gates

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California approved two contracts involving the replacement of two radial gates along the San Diego Canal.Shimmick Construction Company, Inc., was awarded a $7,159,500 contract to replace the two gates. Lee + Ro, Inc., performed the final design work, and that contract was amended to add technical support services during construction. The contracts were approved during a single July 14 board motion.MWD obtains water from the Colorado River Aqueduct, which transports water from Parker to Lake Mathews and from the State Water Project, which brings water from Oroville to Lake Skinner.
