A three-vehicle crash involving a white Tesla and two sport utility vehicles was reported Sunday night, July 26, on southbound Interstate 215 near the Ramona Expressway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported at approximately 9:14 p.m. on the southbound side of the freeway. Initial reports indicated a white Tesla spun out and crashed into the right-side concrete wall after colliding with a silver SUV. Witnesses later advised CHP that three vehicles were involved.
According to CHP dispatch logs, one witness reported the Tesla was traveling at a high rate of speed before striking the wall. Another caller reported that people involved in the crash were outside their vehicles throwing alcoholic beverages over a retaining wall.
A witness also reported that two individuals were being carried away from one of the vehicles, though the extent of any injuries was unknown.
CHP upgraded the incident from a traffic collision with unknown injuries to a collision requiring an ambulance response. CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department personnel were notified and responded to the scene.
All three vehicles were disabled following the collision. Tow trucks were requested through CHP rotation, and traffic was held at Cajalco Road while emergency crews worked at the scene.
No additional information, including the identities of those involved, the extent of injuries or whether any arrests were made, was immediately available Saturday night. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
