The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California approved a change order to the contract to replace two valves at the Lake Skinner outlet tower.A unanimous MWD board vote on August 18 authorized an increase of $25,000 in change order authority to the existing procurement contract with B&K Valves and Equipment, Inc. The foundry, which manufactured the valves, is located in Italy, and an increased tariff created an unforeseen cost which warranted the change order exceeding the cumulative authorized change order amount.The Lake Skinner outlet tower was built in 1973 and is the primary means of drawing water from the lake for treatment at the Robert A.
