The Riverside County Board of Supervisors approved a general plan amendment and specific plan amendment to convert a 16.5-acre site in a Winchester specific plan from commercial retail use to 148 single-family residential lots.The supervisors voted 5-0 August 25 to change the land use designation from Community Development: Commercial Retail (CD:CR) to 9.5-acres of Community Development: Medium High Density Residential (CD:MHDR) and 6.5-acres of Community Development: High Density Residential (CD:HDR) with the other 0.5 acres being used for roads and walkways. The MHDR area would have 66 homes while also including an expansion to Fieldview Park. The HDR area would include 82 houses. The supervisors also amended the tract map and plot plan.The specific plan was approved in April 199
