Olivet University Riverside Campus welcomed new and returning students for its Fall 2026 Convocation and Student Orientation, marking the beginning of a new academic quarter with a focus on academic preparation, spiritual growth and Christian fellowship.
The day began with the Fall Quarter Convocation, which brought together students, faculty and administrative staff to reflect on the University’s mission and prepare for the academic journey ahead. University Chaplain Rev. Michael J. Ford introduced Olivet University’s commitment to preparing ministers and leaders equipped with biblical knowledge and practical skills to share the Gospel with future generations.
The Convocation opened with an invocation prayer by theology professor Dr. Alma Osario and a musical performance led by faculty member Dr. Hosea Yang. The keynote address was delivered by University Chairman of the Board Dr. Nate Tran, who spoke on the importance of bold humility in pursuing success. He encouraged students to pursue their academic and personal goals while remaining mindful of others and recognizing a greater purpose in their lives.
Following the Convocation, the University held its Fall 2026 Student Orientation which provided students with essential information about academic expectations, campus resources, university policies and student life.
The session focused on academic preparation, beginning with presentations from the Registrar’s Office on Populi, academic forms and GPA policies. University faculty introduced the curriculum and course offerings, while additional sessions covered attendance, course completion and internship requirements. These presentations helped students better understand their academic responsibilities and prepare for the quarter ahead.
Campus Chaplain, Rev. Michael Ford, provided an overview of Chapel and Student Affairs, covering Christian Service Policy, Student Code of Conduct and Spiritual Formation Standards.
“University life is about more than academic achievement; it is also a time to grow in faith, build meaningful relationships and discover how we can serve others through Christ,” said Ford. “We hope our students will take these opportunities to heart and become a blessing to the campus and the surrounding community.”
Beyond academic preparation, the orientation provided an opportunity for students to build relationships with faculty, staff and fellow students. With a new academic year underway, Olivet University Riverside Campus looks forward to seeing its students grow in knowledge, faith and character – preparing them to serve their communities and pursue their calling with a greater sense of purpose.
