Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 51000 block of Old Mine Trail Tuesday, Sept. 29, at approximately 2:21 p.m. regarding a reported assault with a deadly weapon.According to Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Lt. Deirdre Vickers, deputies learned upon arrival that the suspect had negligently discharged a firearm and struck the victim with an object.The victim was medically evaluated at the scene.With assistance from the Sheriff’s Aviation Unit, deputies located the suspect and took the individual into custody without incident.The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details were available at the time of the report.Diane Sieker can be reached by email at dsieker@reedermedia.com.
