A 41-year-old Riverside man was arrested after fleeing from Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies during a vehicle pursuit in Temecula Thursday morning, Oct. 29.
At 10:32 a.m., deputies attempted to conduct a vehicle check near Temecula Parkway and Pechanga Parkway. The driver refused to follow deputies’ commands and fled in the vehicle, prompting a pursuit.
The chase ended near Via Rio, where the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Deputies searched the area with assistance from the Sheriff’s K-9 Unit, Aviation Unit and Emergency Service Team. The suspect, identified as Teddy Hamner, was located and taken into custody without incident.
Hamner was booked into jail on suspicion of evading law enforcement and on five outstanding felony warrants.
The incident prompted road closures on Via Rio and Avenida de Misiones.
“As the helicopter was flying overhead, parents were picking up their young children from a nearby school and church,” said a witness. “Everyone was safe, thanks to an amazing response from the sheriffs.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details were available.
