A semi-truck collided with debris on southbound Interstate 15 near Winchester Road Wednesday evening, August 12, prompting a response from law enforcement and emergency crews, HAZ MAT, according to a California Highway Patrol incident report.
The collision was reported at about 7:03 p.m. The initial report described a solo-vehicle crash in which the truck ran over debris.
The semi was stuck in the number three lane, blocking traffic with a leaking tank.
The incident was initially classified as a collision with unknown injuries. CHP later requested an ambulance, and responders investigated whether the truck had struck or punctured a tanker or whether damage involved the truck’s own fuel tank.
By 9:09 p.m., Murrieta police reported that a battalion chief was at the scene and described the crash as a solo-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck carrying a single load. No injuries were reported.
The crash affected the No. 3 lane of southbound I-15. CHP changed the incident classification to a traffic collision with no injuries at 9:36 p.m.
Units were assigned to the scene beginning at about 7:07 p.m., with additional responses continuing into the evening.
The incident was identified as CAL OES No. 26-4080. No further information about the truck, the debris or the extent of property damage was provided in the incident report.
