Equestrians from across the region will gather Sept. 12-13 for the McCaffrey Memorial Endurance Ride, honoring veteran James McCaffrey, at the Beauty Mountain Wilderness in Anza.The American Endurance Riding Conference-sanctioned event will feature three riding options: a 10-mile introductory ride, a 25-mile limited-distance ride and a 50-mile endurance ride. All breeds of horses are welcome, and new riders are encouraged to participate.Organizers say participants do not have to be experienced endurance riders to enjoy the weekend. The shorter 10-mile course will be available for those who want to try endurance riding in a more relaxed setting.
