The City of Hemet will be replacing its 35-year-old water truck.A 5-0 Hemet City Council vote August 11 approved the purchase of a Ford F750 Water Truck from PB Loader Corporation. The Fresno vendor has an agreement with the Sourcewell government agency purchasing cooperative which provides pricing for equipment so the City of Hemet will receive a 10 percent Sourcewell member discount and the purchase price including sales tax will be $128,399.66. The vote also declared the 1991 truck to be surplus.The city’s Public Works Department currently owns a 1991 Ford water truck. The city’s maintenance department has allowed the vehicle to be in use for 35 years, but it constantly requires maintenance and repairs.
