City council adopts Hemet Comprehensive Safety Action Plan

A 5-0 vote on September 8 adopted the Comprehensive Safety Action Plan. The plan identifies a High Injury Network, incorporates extensive public and stakeholder engagement, and prioritizes engineering, operational, education, enforcement, and policy strategies to reduce fatal and severe injury collisions. The plan also includes a School Mobility Assessment for all public schools in the city.In 2021, Congress passed, and President Biden signed, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which includes Safe Streets and Roads for All grant funding for local jurisdictions to reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries.
