County collects hazardous household waste for safe disposal

The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources conducted a free household hazardous-waste collection event Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Anza Transfer Station.Residents arrived with used motor oil, pesticides, medical sharps, leftover paint, unidentified containers and more and were guided to the dirt field just east of the main transfer station.The hazardous household waste materials were transferred to a sheet of plastic, and Waste Resources personnel attired in safety suits and protective footwear took precautions in putting it into secure containers.The event accepted residentially generated household hazardous waste from Riverside County residents.
