County waste department to provide free composting and green cleaning classes in Anza

ANZA – The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources will host free backyard composting and green cleaning classes in Anza Saturday, Sept. 28. The classes start at 9 a.m. with the backyard composting class, immediately followed by the green cleaning class at 11 a.m. The classes will be held at the Little Red Schoolhouse, 56481 Highway 371, in Anza. Attend a presentation to learn how to recycle organic resources such as yard trimmings, and fruit and vegetable waste, into a dark, crumbly, sweet-smelling soil conditioner. Compost can be used to enrich the soil in gardens, lawns and house plants. Instead of putting organic waste into the garbage to be hauled to the landfill, residents can learn to compost.
