French Valley Airport to receive more than $2 million for improvements

French Valley Airport is slated to receive $2.24 million in federal funds for resurfacing work on the taxiway and runway; it was announced Monday, Sept. 23.The Riverside County-owned airfield was among 354 recipients of grants totaling $986 million under the Department of Transportation’s Airport Improvement Program.“This significant investment in airport improvements in California will fund construction and rehabilitation projects that will help maintain high levels of safety in U.S. aviation, DOT Secretary Elaine Chao said.The AIP grants are generally reserved for projects that involve upgrading, modifying or constructing airport aprons, runways, taxiways and terminals, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.Grant amounts are determined based on activity lev
