Hemet man suspected of fatally shooting son

HEMET (CNS) - A Hemet octogenarian allegedly gunned down his 31-year-old son Tuesday during a confrontation at the suspect's residence.
Salvador Aceves Curiel, 84, was arrested and booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of murder, with bail set at $2 million, according to Hemet police Lt. Jeff Davis.
The suspect allegedly shot Ricardo Curiel once in the upper body with a handgun about 2 a.m. in the 2400 block of Oakland Avenue, near Kirby Street. What prompted the confrontation was not revealed.
Other family members were present during the shooting, and police officers were summoned immediately, according to Davis. They arrived to find Curiel's relatives standing around the wounded man, who was taken to Riverside University Medical Center
