Police seek driver who struck, badly hurt woman on Hemet roadway

HEMET (CNS) - The hit-and-run driver of a sedan that struck and seriously injured a pedestrian running across a Hemet street was being sought by police Wednesday.Hemet police Sgt. Dan Reinbolt said that after two weeks, detectives have been unable to locate the motorist, and the investigation has stalled.According to Reinbolt, the crash happened in the predawn hours of Oct. 8 on Florida Avenue, near Yale Street.The victim, whose identity was not disclosed, was running across Florida when she was hit by a white four-door sedan, likely a 2004 to 2007 Chevrolet Malibu, Reinbolt said.He said the westbound motorist paused but did not stop to assist the woman or wait for authorities.The victim was taken to a trauma center with major injuries, according to police.
