'Tis the season for baby goats, with several inquisitive youngsters already bouncing, leaping, climbing and bucking at Denise Squire's farm in Anza.Squires raises Nigerian Dwarf goats, popular as pets and dairy animals. The diminutive creatures have a fun yet mischievous personality, and they start off life full of energy.According to the Columbian Park Zoo, this West African breed is found all over the world. Females, known as does, stand between 16 and 21 inches tall at the withers and males, called bucks, can grow to be 23.5 inches tall at the withers. The babies, called kids, can be born singly or as twins or even triplets. These goats weigh between 60-80 pounds on average and come in a variety of color combinations, including brown, black, white, blond and spotted.[gallery
