Three local high schoolers win in Murrieta Rotary Club music contest

MURRIETA – Three local-area high schoolers took top prizes in Murrieta Rotary’s annual music contest held Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the Salvation Army Community Center in Murrieta. Winners in the contest will move to district competitions in April. The contest had 10 contestants perform.Claire Howard, a sophomore from Inspire Charter School, took first prize playing Impromptu No. 3 in G-flat Major by Franz Schubert on piano. Her music teacher is YiYi Ku. Howard received the first-place prize, $400. She will move onto the district competition.Second place went to Fiona Harley, a Great Oak High School junior, who played Liebestraum No. 3 in A-flat Major by Franz Liszt.  Her music teacher is YiYi Ku.
