It’s official: Lake Elsinore Unified students will still be learning in a virtual format when classes start again after winter break.The district’s Board of Trustees approved an updated reopening strategy Dec. 17 extending distance learning into the new year and adjusting the start of the spring semester for elementary students — “in order to facilitate a smoother academic transition for all elementary students,” the spring semester for grades TK5 will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021, rather than Tuesday, Jan. 12, which is the first day of school after winter break, the district said in an announcement.Distance learning under existing teacher and student assignments will continue unchanged for elementary students during that nearly one-month window, the district said, a
