Motorist comes under fire in San Jacinto, his canine killed

SAN JACINTO (CNS) - A motorist traveling a San Jacinto street came under fire from another driver, whose bullets struck the victim's dog, killing it, authorities said Friday, Dec. 18. The attack happened about 5:20 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Esplanade Avenue and Hewitt Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Sgt. Brad Farwell said that the man was approaching the intersection when a vehicle pulled alongside his, and the occupant started shooting. Farwell said ``multiple rounds'' struck the victim's car before the gunman sped away. ``A canine in the backseat of the vehicle was struck by the gunfire and died from its injuries,'' the sergeant said.
