The city of Murrieta recently launched their short-term vacation rental web portal. The portal, which follows the decision made Oct. 20, to pass a short-term vacation rental ordinance, went live Tuesday, Jan. 26. The ordinance aims to protect live-in STVR hosts and residents nearby, while safely providing an alternative rental option to visitors. The ordinance allows hosted rentals where the owner lives on-site in residential areas and limits non-hosted for whole-home rentals to certain larger rural and estate-zoned properties, according to the city’s website. Also in accordance to the website, non-hosted STVRs are permitted in larger estate and rural-zoned areas. Non-hosted units in ER-1 and ER-2 require a 300-foot separation from one another, as measured from all property lines.
