Hemet’s Simpson Park reopens with fire danger subsiding

The city of Hemet reopened Simpson Park in concert with the Riverside County Fire Department with the fire hazard diminished with the wetter weather upon the area. Other local areas again opened to hikers and visitors alike include: Avery Canyon off Gibbel Road east of State Street in Hemet; North Mountain and Indian Canyon in Hemet and San Jacinto; Nuevo Lakeview west of San Jacinto; Minto in Sage; Ramona Bowl and Bautista Canyon in Hemet and Reinhart Canyon west of Highway 74 off California Avenue in Hemet. “We understand the frustration members of the public may feel when they are not able to visit their favorite trails, and we apologize for any inconvenience the closure may have caused,” Scott Brown, Hemet fire chief said. “The Hemet Fire Department remains committed to coo
