WCA students win first place in virtual theater festival

HEMET – Western Center Academy students from Hemet Unified School District won first place at the California Educational Theatre Association Festival, Jan. 16, in an annual competition, which was held in an online format and featured students from throughout the state.The five students entered an original piece written by Isabella Brown and directed by Jasmine Torres. The scene featured fellow students Dara Bailey, Genesis Brillante and Hanna Snively Folk. Dara Bailey and Hanna Snively Folk received additional special recognition for giving the best performances in their categories.The entry was Brown and Torres’s first, and through the project, they learned to work together, applying a collaborative approach.
