He said, “I felt death!” He told his story with conviction, fear, pain, excitement and the will to live. He survived five days in Joshua Tree National Park with no water, a prickly pear cactus and a serious head injury. Hanks has hiked most of his adult life. “I like to get remote,” he said. “Get out there alone.
