Monsoonal rain hits Southwest Riverside County
Monsoonal rain fell on dry Riverside County and throughout Southern California Sunday, July 25 and Monday, July 26.The precipitation ranged from a smattering of drops to sometimes heavy rain, and the National Weather Service issued flood watches and warnings for many areas as thunderstorms moved through.The rainfall was a stark contrast to the ongoing weather trend in the region which has been in a severe drought.“If you’ve been hearing the pitter patter of rain on your roof, you’re not dreaming!” the San Diego weather office tweeted.Most were happy to see the much-needed rain and many took to social media to post photos and videos marking the occasion.Hemet was the big winner in rainfall totals with 0.31 inches reported, followed by Temecula with 0.26 inches.
