An SUV plowed into the Valle Vista Library east of Hemet after a traffic collision took place Wednesday, Aug. 25. The crash happened just after 7 a.m. at the library, which is at 25757 Fairview Ave., east of Hemet. According to CHP, one person reported a minor injury. The Valle Vista Library will be closed until further notice while damage is repaired.

“Details on the crash were not immediately available beyond witness reports that at least two vehicles collided, sending one into the library,” said California Highway Patrol spokesman, Officer Matt Napier, who also said one person was treated for a minor injury.

This gaping hole in the side of the Valle Vista Public Library closed the facility Wednesday, Aug. 25 when a car crashed through its wall at Fairview Street and Florida Ave. It was unknown at that time when the library would be open again. Only minor injuries were reported in the two- car accident reported by the CHP. Valley News/Tony Ault photo

According to Yaoska Machado, a county spokesperson, a contractor did assess the damage on Wednesday, and county risk-management officials planned to inspect the library again on Thursday. Machado also said the county will have a better idea next week when the library can reopen.
