MENIFEE (CNS) - A woman was struck and killed as she attempted to cross Highway 74 in Menifee, where pedestrian crossings are prohibited, authorities said today. The fatality happened about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday at the 74 and Trumble Road, according to the Menifee Police Department. Capt. Chris Karrer said the victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was on the south side of the highway when she stepped into lanes to go to the north curb. "This side of the intersection is posted 'No Pedestrian Crossing' and has no marked crosswalk,'' Karrer said. He said the driver of a sedan, Chris Kornacki of New York, approached the intersection at an unknown speed and suddenly spotted the woman in his path, at which point he "attempted to swerve, but he was unable to avoid striking the pe
