IDYLLWILD (CNS) - A motorist who died after his pickup truck veered
off a road north of Idyllwild, hitting a boulder, was identified today as a 77-
year-old Banning man.Jesus Vidal died at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on Twin Pines Road,
roughly a mile east of Highway 243, according to the Riverside County coroner's
office.California Highway Patrol Officer Jason Montez said Vidal was at the
wheel of a 2010 Ford Ranger going westbound on Twin Pines when, for reasons
unknown, he allowed the pickup to drift toward the right shoulder, where it
struck the large rock on an embankment.Riverside County Fire Department paramedics pronounced Vidal dead at
the scene a short time later."It was a slow-speed crash,'' Montez told City News Service. "The
