Human Relations Council calls for Black History Month essay contest entries

HEMET – The Human Relations Council of the Greater Hemet, San Jacinto and Menifee region is calling for entries for the 19th annual Black History Month essay contest. The contest is open to all middle school, high school and college students in the Hemet-San Jacinto Valley and Menifee Valley. Public school, private school, parochial school, charter school and home-schooled students are all encouraged to enter.The essay topic is to select a person of color who illustrates the triumph of the human spirit over circumstances and prejudice to build a life of accomplishment. The essay length for middle school students, grades 6-8, is 300-500 words. For high school students from grades 9 to 12, essay length is 500-1,000 words.
