Student arrested in Perris for bringing loaded gun to school

A Perris High School student was arrested on suspicion of bringing a loaded pistol onto the campus, authorities reported on Wednesday.

The identity of the juvenile in question has not been disclosed. He was apprehended without incident and subsequently booked into Riverside County Juvenile Hall on Tuesday following an investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

According to Sgt. Justin Hill, a deputy serving as a resource officer at the high school, located on East Nuevo Road, was alerted to the possibility of an armed teen on the grounds shortly before 2 p.m. on Tuesday. This prompted an immediate investigation.

Hill emphasized that there were no explicit threats made toward staff or students during the incident. The youth was swiftly identified, leading to a search that uncovered a concealed and loaded firearm.

Details about how the pistol was obtained or the motive behind the juvenile bringing it onto the campus have not been disclosed.
