Pursuit ends as suspect surrenders in Anza

A slow-speed pursuit witnessed by afternoon commuters ended with a suspect surrendering after his van was disabled on St. Hwy. 371 in Anza Wednesday, July 3. The chase began in Temecula. At 2:02 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 32000 block of Deer Hollow Way in Temecula regarding an unknown trouble call, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sergeant Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez. "The reporting party stated a female had flagged him down and was saying some of her belongings were taken by a male driving a white van," she said. When deputies arrived, they learned that the victim’s purse had been taken by a male with whom she was familiar. They determined a grand theft had been committed and they began searching for the van.
