TEMESCAL VALLEY, Calif. — Emergency crews successfully rescued a single patient from an inaccessible area in Temescal Valley on Friday evening following a coordinated effort between ground and air units.
The incident, identified by CAL FIRE as the #MountainIC, was reported at approximately 5:55 p.m. near the intersection of Horsethief Canyon Road and Mountain Road.
The Rescue Operation
Due to the difficult terrain, firefighters on the scene determined the location was inaccessible by standard emergency vehicles. A Riverside County Sheriff’s Department helicopter was dispatched to the site to perform a hoist rescue.
The patient, who suffered only minor injuries, was hoisted into the aircraft and flown to a nearby designated landing zone. Once on the ground, the individual was transferred to a ground ambulance and transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
