Aspiring firefighters faced grueling, near-zero visibility conditions and dizzying heights during rigorous hands-on drills at the 2026 California Fire Exploring Association (CFEA) Academy. Hosted by the Hemet Fire Department, the residential academy ran from March 29 through April 4 and marked the association's second major training event since resuming operations post-pandemic. The program drew explorer cadets from across California and neighboring states, bringing together a geographically diverse group of youth united by a shared interest in the fire service.
