Supervisors approve bid advertisements for watershed trash capture devices

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors approved the advertisement for bid of a contract to install trash capture devices in three watersheds within the county including the Santa Margarita Watershed.A 5-0 vote March 24 authorized the advertisement for bids and set an April 15 bid opening date. The action also approved the plans and specifications for the construction of the trash capture device project and found the installation of connector pipe screens in existing storm water drainage inlet facilities to be categorically exempt from California Environmental Quality Act review.Storms wash trash into gutters and storm drains, and that trash is eventually conveyed into streams, creeks, rivers, and the Pacific Ocean.
