Barona Speedway’s two-day Summer Shootout took place July 17 and July 18. Murrieta driver Edward Finger won the July 17 Hobby Stocks main event, and on July 18 he won his heat race while finishing second in the main event.Finger began the July 18 heat race on the pole. Heat races at Barona Speedway are eight laps on the quarter-mile dirt oval not including any laps run under a yellow flag caution. “It was a pretty rough race,” Finger said.Finishing rather than winning was a higher priority for Finger. “The big focus was just making sure I finished so I could make the redraw for the main event,” he said. “Was kind of just taking my time.”The redraw determines the starting positions for the main event.
