The Hemet City Council approved a five-year Capital Improvement Program for the city.A 4-1 vote July 14, with Joe Males opposed, approved the Capital Improvement Program for Fiscal Year 2026-2027 through Fiscal Year 2030-2031. The five-year CIP has an estimated total cost of $159,501,108, including $21,736,408 during Fiscal Year 2026-27. The CIP will be used as a long-range planning document to identify, prioritize, and fund major capital projects.The 2026-27 planned expenditures include $6,291,533 for pavement rehabilitation, $6,250,000 for Cactus Valley Channel improvements, $3,264,000 for sewer main replacements, $1,653,750 for the design of a 2 million gallon water tank for the Echo Hills area along with constructing a new 24-inch line from the water tanks to the existing 24-in
