Winchester resident Naslund wins doubles match at girls national championships

The USTA Billie Jean King Girls National Championships tournament took place August 8-16 at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, and Winchester player Madelyn Naslund won a doubles match while also participating in the under-16 singles division.Naslund paired with Surabhi Raghavendra of San Diego for the girls under-16 doubles competition. Their first match was August 8 against the Austin, Texas, duo of Liberty Benfield and Milagro Wilson. Naslund and Raghavendra won 6-1 and 6-3 sets to advance to the second round.In the second round August 9 Naslund and Raghavendra faced the sixth-seeded team of Alexandra Grilliot from the Indiana town of Carmel and Vanessa Kruse of St. Augustine, Florida.
