Fire remains at 0% containment as crews battle rapidly spreading vegetation fire near Carancho and Frens roads
TEMECULA — Firefighters were battling a rapidly spreading wildfire Tuesday evening near Carancho and Frens roads in southwest Riverside County, where the blaze had grown to 35 acres, destroyed one home, and remained at 0% containment, according to CAL FIRE.
The Carancho Fire was reported shortly after 6 p.m. Oct. 6 in the Temecula-De Luz area. The blaze was reported as burning north of the Riverside County line in Riverside County, close to the Santa Rosa Plateau area.
By 7:51 p.m., CAL FIRE reported the fire had burned approximately 35 acres with the potential to reach 150 acres.
CAL FIRE listed the incident location as Carancho Road and Frens Road in Temecula.
The fire remained active Tuesday night, and the cause was under investigation.
One structure had been destroyed, according to CAL FIRE. No civilian or firefighter injuries or fatalities had been reported in the information released by the agency.
A significant firefighting response was underway, with 139 personnel assigned to the incident. Resources included 24 engines, one water tender, two helicopters, one bulldozer, three hand crews and 10 other resources.
Numerous firefighting air tankers from throughout California were flying suppression missions as conditions allowed, CAL FIRE reported.
The fire was burning in vegetation in a rural area near the Riverside-San Diego county line. Multiple ground and air resources were working the incident Tuesday evening.
No containment had been reported as of the latest CAL FIRE update.
