Trojans shows potential in win over Montana The University of Southern California men’s basketball team showed what it is capable of when it shares the basketball and plays team defense. The Trojans (2-0) jumped out to a 19-point lead in the first 10 minutes, pushed their advantage to as many as 24 points at the Galen Center Saturday night, Dec. 5, and rolled to an easy 76-62 victory over Montana (0-1). USC played smothering defense in the first half, holding the Grizzlies to 33% shooting before the break, including just three for 13 shooting (23.1%) in the opening 10 minutes. Montana shot better in the second half, making 37.5% of its attempts, and whittled the USC lead down to 12 points in the final moments, but the Grizzlies never presented a serious threat.
