Youths rewarded for character excellence despite life challenges

Ten young people had the honor of being chosen to receive a Jamil Dada Character Excellence Youth Award at a stellar ceremony at March Field Air Museum, Thursday, July 14. The honorees are chosen based on character traits such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.Each winner received a $2,500 scholarship, a trophy and legislative certificates. Locally, Monnaje McCorley and Kaine Spurlin of San Jacinto, Ulysses Aguilar of Murrieta and Samantha Gonzalez of Lake Elsinore were among this year’s awardees.
