Grandparents offer perspective and comfort for young people

One of the most important things grandparents offer children and grandchildren is the gift of experience. While this benefit may be obvious, right now it’s more important than ever, even if physical visits are limited due to stay at home orders and risk of COVID-19 infection. Young people who have been raised in the U.S. during the most prosperous time in history have only their own experience as a point of reference. Grandparents have lived through other recessions, possibly depressions, wars, threat of nuclear war and the climate scares of an ice age in the early 70s and the threat of melting ice that would swallow up the land we call home in early 2000s.
