Two killed, three injured in three-vehicle wreck near Vail Lake

Two people were killed and three people were injured in a three-vehicle wreck just south of Vail Lake Thursday, Dec. 3. The collision happened about 2:30 p.m. on Highway 79, near Crosley Truck Trail, roughly 5 miles east of Temecula, according to the California Highway Patrol. An SUV and sedan collided on the southbound side of the highway, causing both to overturn, with one rolling into a roadside ditch. A pickup truck then slammed into the other vehicle, still on the highway. Riverside County Fire Department crews reached the location within 20 minutes and pronounced two people dead at the scene, while another was in critical condition and two others escaped with minor injuries. The seriously injured patient was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar for treatment,
