EMWD approves agreement for Temescal Valley discharge

The Eastern Municipal Water District and the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District have a cooperative agreement for Upper Temescal Valley salt and nutrient management, and an amendment to that cooperative agreement to address responsibilities in 2021, 2022, and 2023 was approved by the Eastern Municipal Water District board Wednesday, Jan. 20. The 5-0 vote authorized Paul Jones, general manager of EMWD, or his designee to approve the amended agreement for the three-year period. The board also appropriated $500,000 to cover the EMWD share of the cost. Because both the Eastern and the Elsinore Valley districts discharge recycled water into the Upper Temescal Valley the two districts were required to develop the Upper Temescal Valley Salt and Nutrient Management Plan.
