Ruptured gas line prompts evacuation of homes on Soboba Indian Reservation

A gas main was breached Thursday, April 15, on the Soboba Indian Reservation in San Jacinto, causing a leak that prompted the evacuation of several homes. The rupture was reported about 12:40 p.m. in the 43800 block of Castile Canyon Road, just north of Poppet Flats Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. The agency said several engine crews from the county and Soboba tribe reached the location within a few minutes and encountered gas streaming from an underground line.
