Firefighters battle brusher in unincorporated area of Southeast Hemet

Cal Fire/Riverside County Firefighters are on scene of a vegetation fire near Sage and Cactus Valley roads in the unincorporated area of southeast Hemet.

The forward rate of spread was been stopped in the Kathryn fire, which was first reported at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, is currently 15 acres and 25% containment with powerlines down, according to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department’s incidents page online at https://www.rvcfire.org.

Three firefighters are being evaluated for non-life threatening injuries, the firefighting agency said.

More than 150 firefighters from the Bureau of Land Management, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, City of Hemet Fire Department, Idyllwild Fire Protection District, Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Southern California Edison and Soboba Fire Department were on scene to battle the brusher.

Resources were committed for roughly three hours for mop up operations.
