TEMECULA (CNS) – A tractor-trailer caught fire on Interstate 15 in Temecula this morning, shuttering multiple lanes and snarling traffic.
The solo vehicle blaze was reported at 6:34 a.m. on the northbound I-15 south of Winchester Road, and put out 14 minutes later, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Multiple engine companies responded and encountered the cab of a semi-truck fully ablaze in one of the lanes. Firefighters quickly got the upper hand and stopped the blaze from spreading to nearby vegetation, officials said.
Three of the interstate’s four northbound lanes were shuttered, according to the California Highway Patrol. Caltrans reported heavy traffic on the corridor.
The CHP said only one lane remained closed as of 8:21 a.m. It was unclear when traffic would be freely flowing again.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
